MOST NEEDED  IN THE NEWLY WON / ESTABLISHED OUTPOSTS:

twin size electric blankets                    twin sheets  & pillowcases

small oscillating fans                            small clip on lamps

black or olive drab Army socks           white athletic sox

bandanas or handkerchiefs                 sweatbands

underwear                                                pajamas

knitted caps                                             wind sox knitted face masks

cough drops, vitamin c lozenges , multivitamins, zinc lozenges,

anything pocket-sized that you might wish you had on a hike or a campout.

Big and small resealable plastic baggies


PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS

pocket size moist towlettes, the more heavy-duty the better (can't have enough of these!) 

toothpaste, toothbrushes , dental floss, toothpicks

mints, gum, tic tacs, certs, dentyne                 

eye drops, eye care products, contact lens solution

lip balm, chapstick, carmex, hand lotion,

neosporin ointment, hydrocortisone cream, food powder                             

pump spray or lotion insect repellent   

combination shampoo & conditioner, shower geldeodorant, soap                             

non-aerosol shave cream, razors          

Soldiers are usually issued plenty of sunscreen.


GOODIES


Packaged snacks of any kind welcomed.

Instant coffee, hot cocoa, and tea, chocolate syrup, flavored instant coffees 

more healthy snacks:  beef sticks, beef jerky, dried fruits, nuts                          

crackers & tuna, ramen noodles,  tuna packs, instant cup o noodles

Protein bars, protein powders, trail mix, dried fruits,

condiments, hot sauce, seasoned salt, bouillon cubes

pringles, pop-tarts, microwave popcorn, girl scout cookies

cereals, corn nuts, pocket sized items like gum, mints, lifesavers

gatorade mix, drink mix packets you can put in water bottles

anything to make the bottled water taste better.

Anything you would like in a sack lunch, backpack, or munching in front of the tv.

FEMALE SOLDIERS NEED:   

Most important: White ankle socks,

feminine hygiene products, both tampons and pads,

chapstick, sunscreen, hand sanitizer

scented soaps, sachets, nail files, and nice shampoo and conditioner.

wet wipes-type moist towlettes, (PLEASE send some in every package!)

scented lotion, air freshener, detergent & laundry soap.

birthday cards/greeting cards, notecards, stationery

pajamas, thermal underwear, tan long sleeved t-shirts, panties,

hair ties and bands, disposable tooth brushes, toothpaste,

bobby pins, razors, manicure items,

Q-tips, cotton balls, combs and brushes, deodorant, neosporin ointment, eye drops, 

shampoo and conditioner, body wash, bath powder,

anything, that would help them feel more feminine.

They can never have too many moist towlettes! Send some in every package!

Good inexpensive sources for many of these items are dollar stores.    


COOL THINGS TO SEND:   THINGS TO RELIEVE THE BOREDOM:

New or used DVD movies (Drama, Comedy, etc) 
classics, bargains                      

New or used CDs, used CD players for music,

toys! frisbees, footballs, water balloons, silly string, gag items, water-balloon launcher

board games, video games, handheld video games,

Low-tech games. decks of cards and  poker chips, puzzles such as rubiks cube, etc.

decks of cards, novelty items, silly putty, bubbles, gag and joke items

paperback books, books for inspiration and encouragement,

Magazines! (fashion, decorating for females;  cars, video games, and sports for males;

current events, US, People, Reader's Digest, Discover, for all soldiers)

Here's the nicest way to clear out all your stacks of magazines! They don't have to be current.

Sudoku, crosswords, word search, newspapers,                                 

small portable artist kits, e.g.: colored pencils & small sketchbook,

watercolors and small pad of watercolor paper,

felt-tip pen set and small sketchbook,

workout resistance bands, ab wheel, pull-up bars, (down range teams don't have workout facilities)

small rugs, things to decorate dull and drab living areas,

holiday themes at the appropriate times,

postcards, posters, artwork, anything to brighten the living areas.  Nothing offensive or obscene!

CANDY... Always, chocolate is a treat, but it melts in hot weather, so send it before the heat starts or send M&Ms; gobstoppers, atomic fireballs, Red Hots, Nerds, pop rocks, skittles, mints, Werthers, gummi bears, sour cherries..... you get the idea !
